Norwegian laminated blades are composed of 3 laminations of steel. The center is extremely hard and the outer two laminations are softer and protective of the edge bearing center—an ingenious design that works to give the blade a lasting edge and increased flexibility. The center lamination registers 59 on the Rockwell “C” scale, which means staying sharp for a long time, and since it extends through the entire blade, the edge won’t wear off with repeated sharpening. These blades have a correctly curved section for skinning and a straight section for slicing.
